Safe Water Action Program

The City of Fort Collins Utilities (City) implemented the Safe Water Action Program (SWAP) to replace aged water service lines that possibly contained lead contaminants. Implementing the SWAP Pilot project was complex and required significant coordination. Ditesco developed a communications plan to keep inter-departmental groups throughout the City informed. Through this plan, the project team was able to take a proactive approach to preparing residents for impacts to their water services, as well as educating them on water quality, flushing procedures, and the ultimate goal of the project – providing safe, high-quality, reliable drinking water to all customers.
