Envision is a sustainability framework used to assess infrastructure projects of all types and sizes such as airports, bridges, levees, parks, pipelines, ports, power plants, roads, solid waste processing facilities, stormwater projects, wastewater treatment facilities, wind farms, etc. Projects are assessed based on economic, environmental, and social aspects. The Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI) has captured lessons learned through the use of Envision on infrastructure projects and has incorporated these key lessons into Envision v3. ISI has identified the need to place greater emphasis on evaluating the economics and resiliency of infrastructure projects. Learn about the relevance to public works projects using a large regional transportation transit project as a case study of how the Envision system can be applied during construction.
