Middle Fork Nooksack River Fish Passage Project
Owner: City of Bellingham
Project Team: HDR, Walsh Group, Collins Engineers
This project restored access to pristine spawning and rearing habitat for three Endangered Species Act-listed Puget Sound fish species and resulted in the greatest Nooksack Chinook salmon population increase of any other action modeled in the Water Resource Inventory Area. The project also included construction of new structural concrete river intake and fish screen structure, as well as welded steel conveyance piping to replace the existing diversion system which serves as an intake for the City of Bellingham water supply system.
