Maryland Avenue Reconstruction Project from 2nd Street NE to 14th Street NE
Owner: District of Columbia Department of Transportation
Project Team: Cube Root Corp, Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson, Inc, Fort Myer Construction
This was a high-priority project due to the high degree of safety issues along the Maryland Avenue corridor, including multiple vehicular and pedestrian accidents and poor visibility of signs and markings in the area. This project was implemented to reduce the speed of traffic and improve safety on this commuter corridor going through residential neighborhoods. Additional project sensitivities included the active engagement of the neighbors and historic significance of the corridor along with the need to coordinate with U.S. Capitol Police and U.S. Secret Service for construction adjacent to the U.S. Capitol.
