By one measure, the construction industry accounts for 30% of the natural resources used and 25% of the solid waste generated. Yet sustainable infrastructure has primarily focused on initiatives made during the design phase that impact infrastructure operations. Leveraging the insight of builders and construction managers, there is an opportunity to extend infrastructure’s sustainability to the construction phase. This webinar will look at sustainable infrastructure design from the construction manager’s perspective. Insight from experts in construction management will be shared that reduce negative impacts of infrastructure – economic, social, and environmental. With a focus on the construction phase of an infrastructure project, we will use the Institute for Sustainability’s EnvisionTM rating system as a framework to discuss strategies to enhance infrastructure performance.
