Each chapter has a faculty advisor and a student board of directors. Cal Poly ranks third nationally among public universities in a Forbes.com ranking of college campuses, based on a recent study that looks at earnings of alumni at colleges around the country. Forbes.com says it bases its ratings on the salaries of college degree holders who have 10 to 20 years of work experience. Cal Poly followed only Berkeley and University of Virginia in the public rankings, tying for the third spot with UCLA and UC San Diego.

"California State University, Fresno (Fresno State), is one of the leading campuses of the California State University system, located in Fresno, CA at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountain range in the San Joaquin Valley. The Construction Management Technology (CMT) program at California State University Northridge is hosted by the College of Engineering and Computer Science and has been offered through the department of Civil Engineering and Applied Mechanic since 2005. CSUN's Student Chapter organizes career fairs as an outreach to companies to enable the students of Construction Management Technology (CMT) to network with prospective employers and demonstrate what our program and our students have to offer.

CMAA's student chapter at Colorado State University (CSU) was founded in Fall 2008 and is roofed under the Department of Construction Management at Colorado State University. The Department of Construction Management at CSU is one of the top ranked programs in the nation and accredited by the American Council for Construction Education. The department is committed to providing a high quality curriculum to its students. Being active participants inside and outside the classroom is strongly encouraged. There are many types of clubs and competition teams each individual can join. The department is dedicated to preparing the future construction industry leaders.
The Chapter's goal is to provide students interested in Construction Management as a profession, a sense of the roles and responsibilities of a Construction Manager. The Chapter will work to abide by and encourage the mission of CMAA which is “to promote and enhance leadership, professionalism, and excellence in managing the development and construction of projects and programs.” Following the CMAA’s mission statement, the Student Chapter’s goal is to enlarge the student experience by enhancing the link between students and the construction industry, help students increase their academic experience, and create a greater sense of community within the CSU Construction Management Department.
The specific Student Chapter objectives include:
- Expose students to professional aspects of Construction Management by interfacing with local CMAA chapters (i.e., field trips, seminars, workshops, and panel discussions).
- Engage in CM outreach activities in the community.
- Help develop leadership skills in CMAA student members.
- To expose students to CMIT in pursuit of CCM and provide guidance in achieving the certification.
- Create internships and shadow programs.

The Student Chapter of CMAA at the University of Florida is a student-run organization campus organization. The students involved in the Chapter promote the Construction Management delivery method. The Chapter encourages interaction amongst students who are majoring in various fields associated with Construction Management. Social and professional events are held throughout the year to provide a forum for students of Architecture, Building Construction, Planning, Engineering, and Business to interact and understand one another. The Chapter promotes future expertise in the construction industry by creating events in which student members interact with professionals at lectures and in the field.

Southern Polytechnic State University's (SPSU) Construction Management (CM) Department offers undergraduate, graduate and certificate degrees. Within each program, students may choose to specialize in one of three tracks: general construction, specialty (MEP), or development. SPSU CM students receive training in core construction management skills including reading and interpreting plans and specifications, estimating, scheduling, project management, value engineering, construction law, construction finance and feasibility to name a few.
The SPSU CMAA chapter is an active and vibrant chapter that coordinates student member activities with the CMAA South Atlantic Chapter (SAC). Each month, professional members of CMAA SAC lecture on their topic of expertise at student campus meetings. In addition, each month, student members are invited to attend the CMAA SAC professional breakfasts to expand their horizons and their contacts with industry. The SPSU CMAA chapter promotes and encourages its student members to become CMIT certified and works with CMAA SAC members to seek internships for its student members.

IIT's comprehensive program in Construction Engineering and Management provides students with the knowledge and background that is essential to making decisions at site, company, industry, and sector levels. Students learn how to plan projects, estimate and control costs, make economic decisions, administer contracts, organize construction sites, manage construction equipment, analyze productivity, optimize site activities, and solve legal problems. Each student's program is individually planned around his or her interests, and students are encouraged to complement their construction engineering and management courses with relevant courses in computer science, business administration, management science, and law. The Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering offers degree programs in Construction Engineering and Management at the master's (Master of Science and Professional Master's) and doctoral (Ph.D.) levels.
The Burton and Erma Lewis Construction Engineering and Management Laboratory is used for undergraduate instruction and graduate research. It has been upgraded by a substantial grant from the Lewis/Khrebiel fund and features four advanced work stations each equipped with an electromagnetic digitizer. Several personal computers, multi-media systems, printers, plotters and a scanner are also part of the lab. Graduate students in the Construction Engineering and Management Program use the latest programming tools in their research work in computer-aided engineering and design. The lab's extensive software library contains state-of-the-art programs in project management, scheduling, accounting, equipment management, public contracting, cost estimating and quantity take-off, and drafting. In addition, the Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering offers modern laboratory and computer facilities for research and instruction.

Construction engineers manage and direct construction operations. Labor, materials, and equipment are analyzed for each job to determine the proper quantity of each, ensuring availability at the appropriate time and place. Construction engineers are experts in many areas because they deal with the different aspects of civil engineering.
In the Construction program, students learn about the capabilities of people, materials, and machinery, and they translate the details of design specifications into an operation such as drilling deep into the ground for a foundation or placing the cable over the saddle at the top of a suspension bridge tower. Of particular value to the construction engineer in the decision-making process is the use of information technology tools in planning, scheduling, fiscal control, inventory, estimating, and production rate forecasting. The Construction program offers various levels of degrees in Construction Engineering and Management from a B.S. to M.S. to a Ph.D.
The CMAA student chapter at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign was first established in Summer 2008 with the following main objectives:
- Encourage the development of a professional consciousness among construction engineering and management students
- Afford an opportunity for them to become more acquainted with construction management practice in the united states
- Help students gain realistic vision about their future professional career and the challenges they would face as construction managers
- Practice working together effectively, to promote a spirit of congeniality among construction management students
- Provide professional contact with the construction and project management professionals at CMAA
- Increase the visibility of construction management group at UIUC among the professionals in the CM/PM areas
- Serve as a contact for obtaining professional industry speakers at seminars and conferences either sponsored by the CMAA or the chapter
- Offer an educational resource through the technical and academic seminars and conferences hold through the CMAA chapter as well as the national and regional CMAA chapters

The Construction Management Club is a student run and supported organization at Wentworth Institute of Technology. The club receives outside support from the professional chapters of the Construction Management Association of America, the Associated General Contractors of America, and Associated Builders and Constructors. The club’s activities include a series of events such as site visits, a mentorship program, guest speakers, and other industry related activities. The Construction Management Club has received awards such as National CMAA Student Chapter of the Year in 2004 and Wentworth’s Outstanding Student Organization of the Year in 2006.
The club has been growing in size and in events and mostly sustains itself through fundraisers outside of the Wentworth budget allocation, leaving membership dues free. An example of the club’s biggest fundraiser is the OSHA Training session. The club has an AGC representative come to the campus twice a year to certify about 50 students at a time through the ten-hour OSHA training. By having this fundraiser, the club raises money, but also gives its students an important tool for the industry. Once a student completes their OSHA session, they are given an edge over other graduates in a CM program. Other types of fundraisers include selling sweatshirts, t-shirts, and decals.
The 2008-2009 school year was full of events. These events included attending the national CMAA conference in San Francisco, visiting the CAT dealership, guest speakers, site visits to Museum of Fine Arts, Logan-Mass port Parking Garage, and Fenway Park, getting involved in Building Boston Together, and the Graduating Senior Appreciation reception.
Mentorship is one of the club’s most successful and important programs. Once a student is a sophomore, junior, or senior they are eligible to have a mentor in the construction field. Local Boston. These mentors and mentees meet at a breakfast every few weeks for a semester or longer. The mentors show the students their offices and bring students to the job sites. This program is important because it gives students someone to ask questions about their profession and experience at a company. Most often the mentor and student stay in contact, forming a great network and friend. Construction professionals volunteer their time to be a mentor to students.
Another significant activity for club members is the ASC competition. Every year the club sends six students to compete in the Commercial Building competition. In 2008 the team came in first place in regionals and second place at nationals.

The Kent State Construction Management program began in 2007 and has grown exponentially since then. There are now more than 100 students in the major and more than 50 members of the Construction Management Student Organization. The Organization participates in CMAA as well as MCAA, NAHB, CSI, and Habitat for Humanity. During April, May, October, and November 2009-2010, the CM organization students and faculty adviser logged more than 1000 hours working for Habitat for Humanity of Canton/Stark County and New Orleans. They also participate in Relay for Life and Adopt-A-Highway where students clean up a two-mile stretch of highway at least twice a year.
Fourteen student members who participated in 40 or more hours of community service projects were honored by Kent at Making a Difference! Recognizing Kent Staters Who Care awards ceremony. The Construction Management Student Organization received the award for the "Most Volunteer Hours by a Student Organization." Two students were also honored as Student Volunteers of the Year for their grade level.
The Construction Management Organization continues to grow and has a well-structured student government system that includes three officers – President, Vice President, and Treasurer – along with numerous other chair positions.

The Master of Science in Construction Management (MSCM) program at Texas A&M University is an advanced course of study. This leading program offers a curriculum that emphasizes the construction process, addressing topics in cost control, financial management, construction quality, project administration, project control for complex commercial or industrial construction projects, business management, contracts and law.
Individuals who complete the MSCM degree are prepared for leadership careers in the management of commercial, industrial, institutional, civil and military construction in the roles of contractor, developer, subcontractor, owner's representative or consultant.

The Student Chapter of CMAA at the University of Texas at Austin (UT) was founded in 2011 as a student-run campus organization. It is housed under the Department of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering, with student members from both Civil and Architectural Engineering, as well as graduate students in the Construction Engineering and Project Management program. The undergraduate student population is exposed to the construction realm through technical electives offered in this program. According to multiple rankings, the Civil Engineering program for both undergraduates and graduates are among the top in the nation.
Planned CMAA events for the school year include multiple speaker series by industry professionals, site visits throughout the Austin area, an end of the semester BBQ, and other exciting activities to be announced. Through these events, the Chapter hopes to provide students with a more in-depth knowledge of the Construction Management profession, to connect students with members of the construction industry, and to help students understand the challenges and opportunities that Construction Managers face. Students involved in the Chapter work closely with the CMAA South Central Texas Chapter to help with these objectives.

The newly formed Myers-Lawson School of Construction is a unique collaboration between the College of Engineering and the College of Architecture and Urban Studies. The principle units of the school include the Department of Building Construction and the Vecellio Construction Engineering and Management program in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
The Student Chapter’s objectives include:
- Create an identity for CM students at Virginia Tech
- Expose students to professional aspects of CM by interacting with CMAA Chapters and the Industry
- Develop students’ leadership and professional skills
- Engage in community outreach activities
