CM Certification Process Streamlined

The Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMCI) has announced that effective immediately, the capstone study kit and open book exam will no longer be a mandatory step in the CM certification process.

Edward Bond Jr, CCM, CMCI Chairman said, “Our pursuit of accreditation for CMCI from the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), helped us recognize the value of streamlining the certification process by not requiring CCM candidates to purchase the study material and take an associated exam.”

The Capstone itself was designed as a way to bring candidates from varying backgrounds, academic training and experiences in the design and construction industry to a common framework from which to operate as professional construction management service providers.

“The Board of Governors finds the publication materials beneficial to those who are preparing for the CCM exam and they will continue to encourage individual self-assessment through the use of publications,” said Amanda Wolfe, Director of Certification for CMCI.

All candidates will be encouraged to purchase publications to prepare for the CCM exam on their own through CMAA or other resources.  For a full list of publications, please refer to the CM Core Competencies at
