McLean, VA - June 29, 2016 - The Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) has endorsed the Certified Construction Manager credential as "the only personnel credential in the construction industry that specifically and reliably identifies its holder as a qualified professional construction manager."
SAME represents more than 30,000 professionals, in both the public and private sectors, engaged in architecture, engineering, construction, environmental and facility management, cyber security, project planning, contracting and acquisition, and related disciplines in support of national security. The SAME Board of Direction formally endorsed the CCM at the organization's recent Joint Engineer Training Conference in Phoenix, Arizona.
"SAME endorses and strongly recommends the Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential administered by the Construction Manager Certification Institute," said SAME Executive Director Joe Schroedel, PE, F.SAME, USA (Ret.), speaking on behalf of the Board. "The Society's review has made it clear that the CCM clearly identifies the most experienced and effective professional construction managers."
In support of this endorsement, SAME and CMAA will collaborate to provide SAME members with training opportunities including CMAA's three-day Professional Construction Management Course and extensive library of online, on-demand education programs based on the CM Standards of Practice. The CMSOP and related documents form the knowledge base on which the CCM examination is based.
"We're very pleased to have earned SAME's support for the CCM," said Bruce D'Agostino, CAE, FCMAA, president and chief executive officer of CMAA, of which CMCI is an affiliate. "SAME is strongly dedicated to helping its members enhance their professional effectiveness, and earning the CCM is an ideal way to achieve this goal.
"Candidates for the CCM must demonstrate educational attainment, extensive responsible-in-charge experience, and a high level of ethical conduct in addition to mastering a comprehensive Construction Management Body of Knowledge," D'Agostino went on.
More than 3,000 professionals have earned the Certified Construction Manager designation. The CCM program has also been embraced by the prestigious Construction Industry Institute of the University of Texas.
SAME was formed in 1920 out of the need to harness the technical engineering lessons learned and maintain the relationships built during battlefield experiences in World War I. The Society has grown to 105 Posts and more than 30,000 members and 1,500 Sustaining Member companies, public agencies, academic institutions, and other professional organizations-representing the military and public sector engineering community, as well as the architecture, engineering, and construction industry. SAME provides extensive opportunities for training, education and professional development through a robust offering of conferences, workshops, forums, volunteer opportunities, networking events, webinars, and publications.
