Letter from CMAA\'s National Conference Chairperson
Dear Colleague:
How will we, as professional construction managers, take the lead in fostering collaboration and success in all of our projects and grow our profession at the same time? Many of the answers will take shape at the 2005 National Conference and Trade Show on September 11-13 at the Hyatt Regency Resort & Spa in Huntington Beach, California, as we address the theme, Creating Visionary Leadership. Links to the complete information about the conference are accessible below.
Our first keynoter, Erik Wahl, is a widely recognized speaker who will inspire your own perceptions in an effort to build a strategic vision. He channels success strategies in a uniquely fresh and very entertaining way. By breaking apart the traditional rules of education, Erik challenges everyone to identify a personal style for motivating themselves and others to rethink vision and purpose.
The other keynote speaker will offer a truly unique view of the leadership involved in major engineering and construction projects. He’s the former chief of engineers and commanding general of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Robert B. Flowers. Gen. Flowers is now CEO of HNTB Federal Services Corporation. During his Army career, he commanded several of the most vital and complex operations the Corps of Engineers has ever undertaken, including major deployments in Kuwait, Iraq, Bosnia, and Somalia.
These exciting presentations are just the beginning of the appeal of the CMAA National Conference, however. Once again, we will bring program managers, construction managers and owners together face to face for a truly practical exchange of views on the most current critical topics.
We’ll fuel this interaction with a program of 32 targeted educational sessions and panel discussions, touching on business, technical and legal issues of broad concern.
And the CMAA Trade Show will be back, bigger and better than ever. Already, more than 20 leading vendors have reserved booths.
This gathering will also be your chance to join in honoring the very best of our profession, through CMAA’s Project Achievement Awards, Distinguished Service Awards, and Person of the Year presentation.
It all takes place on the edge of the beautiful Pacific Ocean in Huntington Beach, California. Please mark your calendar now for this valuable event, and watch for additional information in the months ahead.
Sincerely,
Steve Margaroni
