Meeting Highlights
Another opportunity is coming for you to get together with the construction management industry!  The National Conference & Trade Show is the best conference for construction managers, program managers and owners to attend.  It's also a wonderful chance to meet and network with friends, increase your knowledge, discover new ways of doing business, explore the many products and services available to CMs, PMs, and owners, and also celebrate CMAA’s achievements during the past year.  This year’s theme, Collaboration Creates Success, weaves throughout the conference, highlighting how through collaboration you can create successful projects.

Keynoters to Explore Critical Importance of Trust

Don’t miss these timely and thought provoking presentations.

At Monday’s breakfast, you’ll hear from Christopher Lee, President and CEO of the Los Angeles-based CEL & Associates, Inc., one of the nation’s leading consulting organizations specializing in strategic planning, compensation, satisfaction and opinion surveys, and performance improvement.  Chris brings with him over 30 years of experience in strategic and long-range planning, performance improvement, compensation and organizational development within the real estate industry.  Mr. Lee's background, which includes diversified experience in real estate development, land-use economics, strategic planning, investment analysis, workouts, mergers/acquisitions, compensation, finance, and performance benchmarking, enables him to contribute an interdisciplinary approach to the overall process of analyzing and guiding real estate organizations and project teams. Lee has more than 30 years experience in real estate development, land-use economics, strategic planning, investment analysis, and related specialties, and is recognized as the leading futurist in the real estate industry. He is the editor of Strategic Advantage, a national publication serving senior executives of real estate companies, and the author of a book, Leading a Real Estate Company: Winning Management Strategies for the Next Decade.

The featured speaker at the Industry Awards Luncheon on Tuesday will be Stephen M. R. Covey, co-founder and CEO of CoveyLink, a learning and consulting practice focused on enabling leaders and organizations to increase and leverage trust to achieve superior performance.   Covey is the author of The Speed of Trust, and his basic message for business managers is that far from being a soft, social virtue, trust is actually a hard-edged economic driver, a learnable and measurable skill that makes organizations more profitable, people more promotable, and relationships more energizing.  He has personally led consulting teams that implemented principle-centered leadership in numerous organizations, including the Saturn division of General Motors, PepsiCo, Marriott International, Conoco, du Pont, Cummins Engine, Eli Lilly, Shell, Occidental Petroleum, and many others.  In his presentation, Covey will focus on how “the high cost of low trust” prevents business organizations from achieving all they can, and want to, achieve. He has led the strategies that helped make his father’s book, Dr. Stephen R. Covey's The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, one of the most influential business books of the twentieth century.

Trade Show 2007
The Trade Show offers a chance for you to meet with the most knowledgeable experts and get answers to your questions.  Currently 47 firms are exhibiting!  Plan now to spend time visiting these first-rate exhibitors!  Access the list of participating exhibitors so you can make plans to visit them during the Trade Show.

In response to the positive feedback from the show in 2006, some additional enhancements have been made.  The Trade Show opens earlier on Sunday than in the past, allowing extra time before the education sessions start to view the expanded range of services and products that can streamline your operations and contribute to project success.  Also, lunch will be served in the Trade Show on both Sunday and Monday.  On Sunday, the Trade Show opens at 11:00am with lunch from 12:00pm-1:00pm and a networking break from 3:45pm-4:15pm.  The show opens again Monday at 9:00am immediately after the keynote breakfast with a networking break until 9:30am and remains open until 2:00pm; lunch will again be served from 12:30pm-1:30pm.

37 Informative Education Sessions
Five compelling and significant tracks will be offered at this year’s conference.  These 37 education sessions, offered in eight time slots, presented by more than 70 industry leaders, provide answers to questions faced daily in your professional life in various areas of construction management.  You can access a schedule of the education sessions being offered during the Conference..

Networking and Social Events

The conference is filled with events where you can reconnect with friends and peers and meet new ones!  The Trade Show opens on Sunday and again on Monday and features lunch on the floor both days along with long networking breaks on both days so you can network with the exhibitors.  The Welcome Reception on Sunday evening is a great chance to catch up with friends before going to dinner in Chicago.  The CMAA Foundation Golf Tournament on Monday afternoon provides an enjoyable atmosphere to catch up with colleagues.  The Chicago Chapter has created three tours on Sunday and Monday of exciting Chicago venues featuring some of the best attractions in the Chicago area, which are certain to be fun as well as educational:  the Art Institute, Millennium Park, and the Chicago Architecture Foundation River Cruise tour.  Tuesday brings the close of the conference and the Industry Recognition Reception and Dinner, featuring the presentation of this year’s Project Achievement awards and the individual awards. Be sure to take advantage of all these events as they offer valuable networking opportunities.
