CMAA’s Mission…”is to promote professionalism and excellence in the management of the construction process.” Successful projects don’t just happen, especially not in today’s environment of complexity and high costs. Delivering a project on time and on budget, free of disputes and injuries, requires an integrated, managed approach to every phase from concept through design and construction to completion. Professional construction managers help deliver this value, and CMAA helps these professionals work more effectively.
CMAA’s Members…include both individuals and firms, and now exceeds 4,000. These members represent a broad spectrum of the design and construction industry, including CM practitioners, public and private owners, designers, contractors, attorneys, insurers, services consultants, educators, and students. CMAA is also attracting an increasing number of owners as members - now at 22% of the Association’s total membership. This important trend not only means CMAA is “bringing buyers and sellers” together, but is also helping to enhance communication, knowledge and understanding among both CMs and their prospective owner clients. CMAA’s membership is also highly diverse geographically, with a growing number of international firms and practitioners. Academic faculty, student members, and associates from fields such as insurance and law all bring their own perspectives and contributions to the Association. Many CMAA members also choose to become involved in one of our Regional Chapters. This is an excellent way to combine CMAA’s in-depth resources with market-specific programs and knowledge.
CMAA’s Management…is directed by a Board of Directors representing the full spectrum of CM practice, including Owners. CMAA’s professional staff is based at the Association’s headquarters in McLean, Virginia, a leading business center in the suburbs of Washington, DC. A roster of CMAA committees helps members direct their energies into the fields of greatest interest to them, and Regional Chapters provide members the opportunity to network and become active in their own local area. The CMAA Foundation is building the profession’s future through market research, special projects, and scholarships for young people interested in careers in construction management.
CMAA’s Mandate…is to help professional construction managers achieve better results. That includes supporting you in your continuing effort to improve your skills, expand your knowledge, and broaden your business. It also includes helping you run your practice better as a business—through better marketing, training, client relations, project management, and long-range business planning. CMAA has achieved recognition and influence within the design and construction community. This success results from our combination of strong resources and a committed membership. CMAA and its members, working together, are building a better construction management profession.
