Eric Bodholt, FCMAA

Mr. Bodholt has more than 45 years of experience in construction supervision, cost estimating, and construction management.  He has served as project manager and project director for the construction of numerous facilities, including power generation plants, hydroelectric facilities, hydraulic structures, and nuclear and fossil power stations. Mr. Bodholt is thoroughly skilled and knowledgeable in all facets of the construction process, from estimating and bidding through final construction. He is also very experienced in the development of construction procedures and construction administrative manuals, schedule preparation, staff selection, labor relations and organization, claims and disputes resolution, litigation support, data base management, and technical guidance. Mr. Bodholt is a member of the Board of Governors for CMAA and was in 2003 elected by his Peers to become a FELLOW in the organization. He maintains active membership in several other professional societies.

Chris Brasco's experience includes all facets of the construction process from contract formation through administration and the disputes process. His legal credentials are complemented by hands-on experience that includes the jobsite administration of a U.S. Corps of Engineers housing project in Germany, which was rescued from imminent default and successfully managed through final completion and large claim recovery. He has a family history in the construction industry, which provides him with a unique perspective and the ability to handle complex issues both at the jobsite and in the courtroom.  Mr. Brasco has represented clients before national and international forums including the International Chamber of Commerce International Court of Arbitration, state courts, boards of contract appeals and in arbitrations and mediations. He is actively involved in several trade associations and regularly lectures on issues of importance to the construction industry.

Lou has 35 years CM experience in the public and private sector.  His can-do attitude has brought success to many projects including the multi-billion dollar Pentagon Renovation.  His specialties include: time, cost, quality, scope, safety, change order and claims management; buyout, project rescue; CPM scheduling; earned value; and dispute resolution on both new construction and renovation projects which include K-12 school programs; historical restoration; public transportation; court houses; parking structures; and secure high tech facilities.

Mike Dell'Isola, P.E., CVS, FRICS, is Vice President in the Washington, D.C. area office of DMJM. Previously he was Senior Vice President of Hanscomb Faithful & Gould. Mr. Dell'Isola has a broad background in technical and management areas specializing in cost management, value engineering, technical facilitation/partnering, life cycle costing, and project management. He has thirty years of experience with public agencies, private sector owners, developers, architects/engineers and construction managers for projects in the U.S. and overseas. Mike is a recognized authority on cost, value, construction economics and project delivery. He has presented numerous papers and lectures, as well as taught at the Catholic University in Washington, D.C. His current book is titled, “The Architect’s Essentials of Cost Management.”

Ted Devens is the Corporate Safety Director for Parsons Brinckerhoff Construction Services.  Prior to his current role, Mr. Devens provided consultative services for owners in the development of OCIP’s or wrap-ups on both the construction management aspect as well as the safety management aspect. Mr. Devens received a BSCE from Virginia Military Institute.  He is a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers and the Construction Management Association of America.  He currently chairs the Safety Management Task Force for the CMAA.  Through the task force, an alliance between OSHA and the CMAA has been in place for two years.

Over 15 years of construction and general industry safety experience, the last 7 years of which is specifically construction safety management on both horizontal and vertical structures. Projects included military housing, hospitals, dining facilities, schools, road construction, railroad construction, excavation and embankment operation, flood control, pier construction, dam construction, and dredging operations. Currently providing safety oversight on DMJMH+N projects. Some of the notable project involvements were: Pentagon Renovation Projects; Alameda Corridor Trench, Grade Separations, & Rail Road Construction; Pier 400 Construction; Seven Oaks Dam Construction; and the LA River Flood Control Project.

Greg Gesicki is a Vice-President of Stanley Consultants and Group Manager for Construction Services in the Western Region. He has over 18 years of construction experience for projects including land development, transportation, water and wastewater systems, power generation, commercial office buildings, and recreational facilities. Prior to joining Stanley Consultants in 1999, Mr. Gesicki was a Project Engineer for Bechtel Power Systems, Director of Operations for a concrete subcontractor in the Washington DC area and General Manager for engineering contractors specializing in water and wastewater projects in the SW United States.

Christopher Griffith, PE, CCM is a Senior Vice President with KCI Technologies, Inc and oversees KCI Construction Services, LLC. Chris leads KCI’s Construction Management Group and is responsible for Business Development and Operations in the Mid Atlantic Region.  Chris has more than 19 years experience in program and construction management, including 12 years in the US Navy Civil Engineer Corps.  He is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD and holds Masters Degrees from University of Maryland, University of Hawaii and Boston University.  He currently serves as the CMAA National Capital Chapter President.

Mr. Heydari is a Registered Civil Engineer, Licensed General Contractor, and Certified Construction Manager with over 35 years of experience in engineering, contracting and construction management.  Mr. Heydari has broad exposure to a variety of construction projects with extensive experience on underground utilities, public works and school projects.  Mr. Heydari's background spans the entire range of construction process from, pre-design to closeout.  He has served as operations/program/project/construction manager for over $1.5 billion in construction projects.  Mr. Heydari has been with Vanir Construction Management since 1985 and currently serves as the company's Vice President and Project Director in Los Angeles area.

Les Hunkele has over thirty years of engineering, planning, design, CM, O&M, real estate development and contracting experience. He is also experienced in leading government and private sector facilities organizations, making presentations to national audiences, teaching, and writing for trade magazines. Most recently, Les was senior vice president for DMJM Management in Arlington, VA, where he managed all company CM and PM projects east of the Mississippi River. Mr. Hunkele is also ASCE ‘s 2003 Roebling award winner for outstanding contribution to construction engineering.

Alex Johnston is a retired Corps of Engineer Colonel who has worked in construction management for Heery International for 16 years. A vice-president and area manager, he and his staff provide full service management, estimating and scheduling services from pre-design through post-construction and relocation management. Projects include construction, renovation, and fit-out of office buildings, schools, universities, hospitals, laboratories, correctional and other facilities.

Ronald C. Kerins, Jr. has 20 years experience in the construction management industry leading projects in both the public an private sectors. Mr. Kerins has a diverse background specializing in managing clients expectations related to cost, schedule, and quality of their projects.  Ron specializes in providing full service program management services, as well as managing construction claims, both avoidance and mitigation.  He holds degrees in Architecture and Civil & Construction Engineering Technology from Temple University as well as an MBA from Penn State.  He is currently adjunct professor at Temple University College of Engineering as well as a Project Management instructor for the Philadelphia Engineers Club.

Mr. Lawton is one of DMJM’s most highly regarded program managers, with responsibility for Business Development for the program/construction management work for DMJM in the US. Mr. Lawton has over 30 years of experience in a wide array of design and construction activities, with direct responsibility for complex construction programs in excess of $1 billion. With a multidisciplinary architecture/engineering perspective, Mr. Lawton is especially noted for his successful management of complex and large projects involving critical path scheduling, phased move-in schedules, coordination of numerous subcontractors, and the accommodation of “live” environments. He has won accolades from clients for the effective working relationships developed during projects and for his sensitivity to public issues.

Johnson Nee was one of the first 13 professional who received Certified Construction Manager designation from Construction Management Certification Institute.  He has over 20 years experience in construction management.  His area of expertise included Construction Management at risk, project workout, and contract administration.  He received his Master of Business Administration degree from Pepperdine University.

Edward C. Newman, III, PE, CCM is a Vice President with Construction Dynamics Group, Inc. in Columbia, MD.  CDG is an 85-person full-service program/construction firm, which operates on the eastern seaboard as well as overseas in Great Britain.  He is CDG's Director of Facilities and Regional Manager responsible for business development and operations in Maryland, the District of Columbia and Pennsylvania.  Ed has more than 19 years experience in program and construction management.  Ed is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY, where his academic concentration was civil engineering.  He spent five years on active duty as an engineer officer in a variety of troop assignments in the continental United States and overseas.  Ed is a registered professional engineer in several states and is a Certified Construction Manager (CCM) through the Construction Management Association of America.  He is a Past President of the National Capital Chapter of CMAA.

Current employment: since September 1980, Corporate Safety Director of Gilbane Building Co., a $2.5 Billion nation-wide construction firm. Responsible for company-wide safety including subsidiaries. Overall direction of all safety professionals within company and over 16,000 construction employees. Responsible for lowering insurance EMR from 2 to 0.34. Construction activity primarily commercial and industrial. Previous employment: 7 years as Regional Safety Director for Eastern Region of the Turner Construction Co., about $1 billion of construction per year in the region. Prior: served 3 years with the National Safety Council as construction staff representative as well as Secretary of American National Standards A10 Committee on Safety in Construction and Demolition Operations.

Kathleen Olden Barnes is a partner with the law firm of Watt, Tieder, Hoffar & Fitzgerald, L.L.P.  Ms. Barnes has focused her practice on counseling and dispute resolution on behalf of contractors, sureties, design engineers and owners in the planning, design and construction of projects in the United States and overseas, including power plants, commercial developments, airports, bridges, highways and tunnels. Ms. Barnes has litigated all manner of construction claims in federal and state courts and Boards of Contract Appeals as well as in arbitration.  Ms. Barnes has authored and co-authored numerous articles on construction law issues and frequently lectures on construction law topics.  Ms. Barnes received a Bachelor’s degree in economics from Georgetown University and her Juris Doctor from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law

Chris Payne has more than fourteen years experience in construction management and design, with a wide variety of experience including construction field management, inspection, CPM scheduling, and cost estimating. Mr. Payne has specialized experience in resolution of construction disputes, including analysis of delays. He has provided expert testimony on highway and building disputes. He also has six years experience with the Virginia Department of Transportation specializing in planning, design, and maintenance of bridges and structures, as well as an extensive background in computer applications including developing, writing, and maintaining design and analysis software. Mr. Payne trained as a mediator for the resolution of conflicts. As manager of MBP's Fairfax Branch office, oversees a variety of building and transportation programs, providing direct client coordination and quality assurance for a staff of 30 construction professionals.

Blake V. Peck, PE, CCM, is a principal of McDonough Bolyard Peck, a major participant in the firm's in-house quality management program and is Principal in charge of MBP's field services. Mr. Peck has over 25 years experience in construction CPM scheduling, inspection, management, cost estimating, and contract administration on heavy and building construction projects. He is extremely active nationally in the Construction Management Association of America’s efforts to promote quality management within the construction industry as a past President.

Mark Sgarlata’s experience includes contract drafting and negotiations, claim advice, dispute resolution and litigation on a wide variety of heavy industrial and commercial construction projects, including mass transit systems, dams, powerhouses, cable-stayed and segmental bridges, highways, and air and water quality projects, as well as defense and technology supply contracts. He counsels and advises construction and supply contractors with respect to bid protests, contract administration, claim preparation, dispute resolution and litigation on federal, state, municipal and private contracts. Mark has prosecuted and defended against construction and supply contract claims before several Federal District Courts, the United States Court of Federal Claims and the American Arbitration Association.

Curt Smith is a graduate engineer and has a masters degree in construction management, along with being a PE and CCM.  He is currently a Program Manager at GSA Public Buildings Service handling project management, scheduling and cost programs, along with most of GSA's tools and guidance in these areas.  He has handled the technical evaluation of GSA's re-investment projects for many years and is involved with financial returns, EVM, and industry technologies and software.

Kenneth Vogel is Manager of the Construction Department for the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (WMAA). He is responsible for management of the construction phase of an ongoing 2.8 billion dollar Capital Construction Program focusing on the expansion of Dulles Airport. Mr. Vogel has an AB in Architecture and an MS in Civil Engineering, both from UC Berkeley. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Virginia and California, a Certified Building Official, and a Certified Construction Manager.

Robert B. Wilson, Project Executive, Gilbane Building Company.  Responsible for the management of multiple contracts and projects, with primary focus on large federal and Postal Service programs.  Bob has been with Gilbane Building Company for 25 years and has experience on various forms of CM and GC contracts.  Prior to joining Gilbane, Bob was a member of the U.S. Navy Civil Engineer Corps for 23 years.  While in the Navy, he managed design and construction programs in the Atlantic and European areas, as well as being an active Seabee. Bob’s varied experience as an owner and contractor, particularly in the agency form of construction management, brings many years of successful experience in contract administration, organization and personnel development.  Bob has been active in CMAA for 16 years and is a CMAA Fellow, has served as President of the CMAA National Board of Directors, President of the CMAA Foundation and as Chairman of the CMCI Board of Governors.
