Construction Scheduling Revealed
Preparing and Assessing Construction Schedules and Delay Claims
Harnessing the Power of the Schedule — The Key to a Successful Construction Project
The schedule is the heart and soul of a construction project. It impacts all parties – owners, prime contractors, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and others – on a daily basis. Whether the impact is positive or negative depends on the quality of the schedule, its realism, and how well each party understands the schedule and the scheduling process.
A well-grounded schedule should be developed cooperatively among all parties. This strategy promotes a smoothly executed project and an amicable resolution of delay claims. When scheduling principles are overlooked or misused, acrimony ensues – and all parties suffer.
Construction Scheduling Revealed is a day-long training course. It is designed to illuminate the scheduling process by focusing on the development and maintenance of construction scheduling specifications. It will also examine critical path method schedules and the means by which schedules can be updated and altered, for better or worse.
All parties to a construction project need to be aware of how float sequestering, work sequencing, resource and date constraints, and other factors can affect the schedule. They must also know how to account for these circumstances in the preparation and evaluation of delay claims, as well as the legal issues and precedents that surround scheduling and delay claims.
For those unfamiliar with the nuances of the critical path method and delay evaluation techniques, scheduling takes on the aura of a supernatural experience. An event occurs, it can’t be explained, and it doesn’t seem real. Attend “Construction Scheduling Revealed” and put the power of scheduling to work for you.
What You Will Learn
Attendees will leave this course armed with the confidence and the knowledge they need to prepare and assess construction scheduling specifications, schedules, and delay claims within their organization and with other parties to the construction project. Participants will be able to:
• Interpret standard contract provisions
• Conduct in-depth evaluations of schedules for reasonableness of project critical path and early completion,
float sequestering, and overall validity
